Fischhof, Joseph
Fischhof, Joseph, Austrian pianist, pedagogue, and composer; b. Butschowitz, Moravia, April 4, 1804;d. Vienna, June 28, 1857. He settled in Vienna and studied with Halm (piano) and Seyfried (composition). In 1833 he joined the faculty of the cons, of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde. His valuable collection of rare musical MSS is housed in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek. He publ. Versuch einer Geschichte des Klavier-Baus (Vienna, 1853) and composed many piano pieces.
