Filmed version of the 1938 Thornton Wilder play as staged by the Westport County Playhouse. Newman makes his first stage appearance in nearly 40 years as the Stage Manager, who narrates the story of the townspeople of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire at the turn of the 20th century. At the play's heart are Emily Webb and George Gibbs, who will grow up, marry, and start a family with tragic results as the ghosts of the town watch the lives of those they've left behind. 120m/C DVD .
