Early Leonard film (he'd later direct “The Great Ziegfield” and “Pride and Prejudice”) casts Shearer as a woman out to beat her husband at philandering. Shearer—who Lillian Hellman described as having “a face unclouded by thought”—grabbed an Oscar. Based on the novel “Ex-Wife” by Ursula Parrott. 83m/B VHS . Norma Shearer, Chester Morris, Conrad Nagel, Robert Montgomery, Mary Doran, Tyler Brooke, George Irving, Helen Johnson; D: Robert Z. Leonard. Oscars '30: Actress (Shearer).
