The Big Kahuna ★★½ 2000 (R)

Spacey produced and stars as Larry, a loudly cynical industrial lubricants salesman at a convention in Kansas. He's there with Phil (DeVito), his burnedout collegue who's going through a divorce and looking for spirituality; and Bob (Facinelli), a newlywed, devout Christian research engineer who's new to the company. They spend the night in a hospitality suite waiting for a potential client—the Big Kahuna—and discussing how work, religion, ethics, and personal life coexist. Adapted from Rueff's play “Hospitality Suite” and it feels like it. The dialogue and setting is very stagey, but the performances are excellent, especially DeVito's. 90m/C VHS, DVD . Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito, Peter Facinelli; D: John Swanbeck; W: Roger Rueff; C: Anastas Michos; M: Christopher Young.
