Sales, Franz , Netherlands composer; b. Namur, c. 1550; d. Prague, July 15, 1599. After serving at the courts in Hechingen and Munich (1580), he was a tenor at the Innsbruck court chapel (1580–87). He then was Kapellmeister at the collegiate foundation for the ladies of families of the nobility in Hall in the Tirol (1587–91), and subsequently a tenor at the Prague imperial court (from 1591). He excelled as a composer of Mass Propers for 5 to 6 Voices (3 vols., Prague, 1596). His brother, Nikolaus Sales (b. probably in Namur, before 1550; d. Stuttgart, April 5, 1606), was a composer who sang at the Stuttgart court chapel (from 1565).
