Buddy's Song
Buddy's Song ★★ 1991 (R)
A '60s coming of age tale, only in this case it's the father and not the son who needs to grow up. Dad (Daltrey) is more interested in hanging out with his no-account musician friends than in looking after his family. Although he's not above meddling in his teenage son's musical career, which could be the success his father's never was. Based on the novel by Nigel Hinton who also did the screenplay. British teen idol Hawkes (in his film debut) had a top ten hit song from the film with “The One and Only.” 106m/C VHS . GB Roger Daltrey, Chesney Hawkes, Sharon Duce, Michael Elphick, Douglas Hodge, Lee Ross, James Aubrey, Liza Walker; D: Claude Whatham; W: Nigel Hinton; C: John Hooper; M: John Grover, Roger Daltrey.
