American swimmer. Born May 6, 1980, in Tampa, Florida.
Won a gold medal for 800-meter freestyle at Atlanta Olympics (1996) and a gold medal for 800-meter freestyle at World championships (1998); won gold medals for 400-meter freestyle and 800-meter freestyle at Sydney Olympics (2000); holds 13 US national titles.
