Robert August Bosch
1861-1942
German precision mechanic who helped design and produce the low-tension magneto, the spark plug, and the distributor for multi-cylinder engines in 1902-03. He is also known for introducing the eight-hour workday, as well as advocating industrial arbitration and free trade. In 1932 he wrote a book on the prevention of world economic crises.
