Alien Nation
Alien Nation ★★½ 1988 (R)
A few hundred thousand alien workers land accidentally on Earth and slowly become part of its society, although widely discriminated against. One of the “newcomers” teams with a surly and bigoted human cop to solve a racially motivated murder. An inconsistent and occasionally transparent script looks at race conflicts and includes some humorous parallels with contemporary American life. Basis for the TV series. Producer Hurd was also the force behind “The Terminator” and “Aliens.” 89m/C VHS, DVD . James Caan, Mandy Patinkin, Terence Stamp, Kevyn Major Howard, Peter Jason, Jeff Kober, Leslie Bevis; D: Graham Baker; W: Rockne S. O'Bannon; C: Adam Greenberg; M: Curt Sobel.
