Finnish designer of ceramics . Name variations: Ulla Procope. Born in Finland in 1921; died in 1968; graduated from the Helsinki Institute of Industrial Arts, in 1948.
Born in Finland in 1921, Ulla Procopé graduated from the Helsinki Institute of Industrial Arts in 1948. She then went to work for the firm of Arabia, a producer of fine ceramic tableware. After working for a time under the direction of Kaj Franck, Procopé began creating her own designs, which included the Liekki pattern (1957) and the very popular Ruska (1960), distinguished by its rich brown glaze. Procopé was honored at the 1957 Milan Triennale and also won numerous awards and medals at exhibitions in Holland and the United States.
