Made film debut under name Bernice Kay (1941); changed name to Cara Williams (1943); films include The Saxon Charm, Knock on Any Door, Boomerang!, The Girl Next Door, The Helen Morgan Story, The Man From the Diner's Club, Never Steal Anything Small and The White Buffalo; on tv, starred on "Pete and Gladys" (1960–62) and "The Cara Williams Show" (1964). Nominated for Oscar for The Defiant Ones (1958).
