Born Alice Wandesford, Feb 13, 1626 (some sources cite 1627), in Kirklington, Yorkshire, England; died 1706 or 1707 in East Newton, Yorkshire, England; dau. of Christopher Wandesford and Alice (Osborne) Wandesford; m. William Thornton, 1651.
Wrote The Autobiography of Mrs. Alice Thornton, of East Newton, Co. York (ed., C. Jackson, 1875), a lively account of the life of a 17th-century woman and of the politics of the period.
