Taught creative writing and helped found Runa Press; wrote in both English and Irish; poetry includes Songs of Living (1961), Sarah, in Passing (1974), Cirt Oibre (1980), The Greatest Sin (1982), Fuil agus Fallaí (1983), My Darling Neighbour (1985), An Sagart Pinc (1990) and Let Live (1990).
