Japanese empress. Name variations: Shōshi. Dau. of Fujiwara no Michinaga (966–1028, head of the famous Fujiwara family during their period of greatest power and influence) and Rinshi; had sisters Kenshi, Ishi, and Kishi, and brother Yorimichi (who became emperor); m. Emperor Ichijo (died, autumn 1011); children: 2 sons born between 1008 and 1010.
