Master of characterization, writings address such issues as bioengineering and immortality; works include Cloned Lives (1976), Watchstar (1980), The Alien Upstairs (1983), Venus of Dreams (1986), Heart of the Sun (1997), and Child of Venus (2000); short fiction collections include The Best of Pamela Sargent (1987) and The Mountain Cage and Other Stories (2002); edited collections include Bio-Futures (1976) and Women of Wonder: The Contemporary Years (1995).
