Pereyaslavec, Valentina (1907–1998)
Soviet ballet dancer and teacher. Born Feb 10, 1907, in Ukraine; died Jan 4, 1998, in Woodside, NY; studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School in Moscow.
Joined Asaf Messerer and Vladimir Ryabster's troupe in Kharkov, where she performed Swanilda and Kitri, among others; danced with State Ballet in Sverdlovsk, appearing in premiere of Iakobson's Lost Illusions (1936); studied with Agrippina Vaganova in Leningrad; joined State Ballet of Lvov (1940); during WWII, deported and sentenced to work in factories in Leipzig; moved to New York and began teaching at Ballet Theater School (1951).
