Pavlova, Nadezhda (1956–)
Soviet ballet dancer. Name variations: Nadeshda Pavlova; Nadezhda Vasilyevna Pavlova. Born 1956 in Tsheboksari, Russia.
Trained at Perm State Ballet and performed with that company until 1975; joined Bolshoi Ballet (1975), where she performed as a soloist in Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, The Stone Flower, and others; toured over 40 countries; appeared in Soviet-American film The Blue Bird (1976); was artistic director of Nadezhada Pavlova's Ballet Company (1992–94), and Renaissance Ballet Company (1995); became a teacher at the Bolshoi. Awarded People's Artist of USSR (1984).
