American actress and band singer. Born Jan 18, 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa; died Sept 16, 2005, in Los Angeles, California; m. John Maschio (her agent), 1937; children: 2.
Began career as a band singer and on radio; starred on Broadway in By Jupiter; made film debut in Prescription for Romance (1937), followed by Buck Rogers (serial), You Can't Cheat an Honest Man, Charlie McCarthy—Detective, Framed, Argentine Nights, Take a Letter Darling, Show Business, Atlantic City, Earl Carroll Vanities, In Old Sacramento, Earl Carroll Sketchbook, Hit Parade of 1947 and Spree, among others; on tv, costarred with Robert Young in "Window on Main Street" (1961–62).
