Min, Anchee (1957–)

Chinese memoirist. Name variations: An Chee Min. Born 1957 in Shanghai, China.

Spent 2 years doing hard labor on the Red Fire collective farm; became a leader of the Little Red Guards; played title role in the film version of Madame Mao's (Jiang Qing) Red Azalea; moved to US (1984); published her memoir Red Azalea (1993), about growing up during the Cultural Revolution; also wrote the novels Katharine (1997) and Becoming Madame Mao (2000).
