McCusker, Marilyn Wehrie (1944–1979)
American miner. Born Feb 2, 1944, in Utica, NY; died Oct 2, 1979, at Osceola Mills, PA.
Sued Rushton Mining Co. at Osceola Mills, PA, which resulted in the hiring of the mining company's 1st female employees (including McCusker, 1977); worked as general laborer for Rushton; was the 1st woman to die in an underground mine in US, when a tunnel gave way above her (1979).
