Mayhew, Kate (1853–1944)

American stage actress. Born Sept 2, 1853, in Indianapolis, IN; died June 16, 1944, in NYC.

Appeared on stage for more than 75 years in over 500 productions; made NY debut in My Neighbor's Wife at Niblo's Gardens (1873); later appeared with Edward O. Sothern, father of E.H. Sothern, in The American Cousin; created title role in Bret Harte's M'Liss (1878).
