Glümer, Claire von (1825–1906)

German travel writer and short story writer. Name variations: Claire von Glumer or Gluemer. Born Oct 18, 1825 in Blankenburg-am-Harz, Germany; died 1906.

Grew up in France; returned to Germany (1848); worked as governess and government reporter; jailed for 3 months for trying to help brother escape from prison; writings include Fata Morgana (1848) and Aus den Pyrenäen(1845); also wrote many stories and novellas and translated George Sand's autobiography.
