Had an extensive stage career in Ireland; came to prominence in the film My Left Foot (1989); other films include Angels in the Outfield (1994), Moll Flanders (1996), Swann (1996), Resurrection Man (1998), Conspiracy of Silence (2003), Veronica Guerin (2003) and Inside I'm Dancing (2004); frequently appears on tv, including the series "Casualty."
