Ermesind of Luxemburg (d. 1247)
Countess and ruler of Luxemburg. Name variations: Ermensinde; Ermesinde; countess of Namur. Reigned from 1196 to 1247; died in 1247; daughter of Henry IV the Blind also known as Henry IV the Blond, count of Luxemburg (son of Godfrey, count of Namur, and Ermesind of Luxemburg [fl. 1200]); married Walram III, duke of Limburg; children: Henry V the Blind also known as Henry V the Blond (1217–1281), count of Luxemburg (r. 1247–1281).
Born into the House of Namur, Ermesind became ruler of the principality of Luxemburg in 1196, following the death of her father Count Henry IV. When she died in 1247, her son Henry V became count of Luxemburg.
