Borda, Deborah (1949–)
American symphony orchestra director. Born July 15, 1949, in New York, NY; dau. of William and Helene (Malloy) Borda; Bennington College, BA, 1971; attended Royal College of Music in London, 1972–73.
As a violinist, spent 8 years with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (1979–86), of which she became general manager; served as director of St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (1986–88), executive director of Detroit Symphony (1988–90) and president of Minnesota Orchestra (1990–91); became managing director of New York Philharmonic (1991) and vice-president and managing director, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association (2000).
