American silent-screen actress. Name variations: Mabel Croft. Born Mabel Croft, Jan 1, 1887, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; died July 24, 1958, in Santa Monica, California; m. Hugo Ballin (producer-director, died 1956).

Had stage career as Mabel Croft; appeared opposite Tom Mix in Riders of the Purple Sage; starred in husband's productions Jane Eyre, Vanity Fair and Married People, among others; other films include East Lynne; retired (1925).
