Chicana who wrote The Squatter and the Don (1885), the 1st novel in English to depict plight of Californios after US annexation of California; also wrote Don Quixote de la Mancha. A Comedy in five acts taken from Cervantes novel of that name (n.d.), and Who Would Have Thought It? (1872).
