American sailor. Born c. 1930; grew up in the high desert of central Oregon.
Took 1st sailing lesson at Marina Del Ray, California (1964); sailed solo from Marina Del Ray to Hawaii in a 25′ Folkboat Sea Sharp (1965); soloed from Yokohama, Japan, to San Diego, CA, in a 31′ ketch, Sea Sharp II (May 12-Jul 25, 1969), the 1st successful solo sail across the Pacific Ocean by a woman.
