Naboth
Naboth in the Bible, the owner of a vineyard coveted by king Ahab; when Naboth refused to sell it, Ahab's wife Jezebel caused him to be falsely accused of blasphemy and stoned to death. On taking possession of the vineyard, Ahab was warned by Elijah that the sin would bring disaster on his dynasty and on Jezebel. The story is referred to allusively for situations in which one who is already wealthy covets the single possession of another.

Naboth
Naboth Owner of a vineyard which King Ahab wished to buy because it adjoined the royal property; but when Naboth refused to sell, Queen Jezebel conspired to bring a false charge of blasphemy against him, for which he was stoned. Ahab moved in to take possession of the vineyard but was confronted by Elijah, who predicted disaster for his dynasty and for Jezebel (1 Kgs. 21).
