Nachi sennichi no gyōja. An ascetic in Japanese religion (usually Buddhist) who completes the practice of standing naked for a thousand days beneath the Nachi falls, near Katsu-ura. The falls drop in a narrow band of water for about 130 m. At the base of the falls is the Hirō-ō (Flying Dragon) shrine. The Nachi shrine is above the falls, an ancient site, but the present buildings are recent (1848).
