Mona [orig. monapia (?), monavia (?), menavia (?)]. Roman name for the Isle of Man, Anglesey, part of the Scottish coast, and another island in the Irish Sea, probably Arran, now popularly thought to refer only to Man. ‘Mona's Isle’ is a nickname for the Isle of Man.
