Mona ♀ Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Muadhnait. It is no longer restricted to people with Irish connections, and has sometimes been taken as connected with Greek monos ‘single, only’ or chosen with reference to Leonardo da Vinci's painting Mona Lisa.
