Kadesh

Kadesh The site of the Israelites' encampment on the road from Egypt to Judah (Num. 13: 26). Spies were sent out from Kadesh to explore the country of Canaan and returned with such an ominous report that the people hesitated. A request to pass through edom was rejected (Num. 20: 18).

Kadesh or Kadesh-barnea , oasis in the desert S of ancient Palestine, mentioned frequently in the Bible, notably as a limit of Edom. Another biblical name is En-mishpat.
