Camp David

Camp David U.S. presidential retreat, located in Catoctin Mountain Park (see National Parks and Monuments , table), in NW Md. The Camp David accords , the terms of a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, were established (1978) at this site; other negotiations and summits also have been held there.

Camp David

Camp David the country retreat of the President of the US, in the Appalachian Mountains in Maryland. President Carter hosted talks there between the leaders of Israel and Egypt which resulted in the Camp David agreements (1978) and the Egypt–Israel peace treaty of 1979.

Originally established and named Shangri-La in 1942 by President Franklin Roosevelt, Camp David was renamed in 1953 by President Dwight Eisenhower after his grandson David.
