primitive society

primitive society A term used to refer both to the earliest societies and to recent examples with simple technology. It fell into disfavour as a description of any society of recent centuries, since none are relics of an earlier evolutionary stage, and each has its own history and development. Moreover, improvisation of existing materials is subtle, not simple.
