mo·dus vi·ven·di / ˈmōdəs vəˈvendē; -ˌdī/ • n. (pl. mo·di vi·ven·di / ˈmōdē; ˈmōdī/ ) [usu. in sing.] an arrangement or agreement allowing conflicting parties to coexist peacefully, either indefinitely or until a final settlement is reached. ∎  a way of living.
