Moeck, Hermann
Moeck, Hermann, German music publisher and instrument maker; b. Elbing, July 9, 1896; d. Celle, Oct. 9, 1982. He established his publ, business in Celle in 1930, which in 1960 he handed over to his son Hermann Moeck Jr. (b. Lüneburg, Sept. 16, 1922). The firm was influential in the revival of the manufacture of the vertical flute (recorder) and other Renaissance and early Baroque instruments. Moeck also publ. arrangements and authentic pieces for recorders and the theretofore obsolete fidels. Hermann Moeck Jr., wrote a valuable monograph, Ursprung und Tradition der Kernspaltflöten (2 vols., 1951; abr. ed., 1967, as Typen europäischer Blockflöten).
