John Adam Dagyr

?-1806

Welsh/American shoemaker known as "the father of American shoemaking." Dagyr was the first to operate a shoe shop set up like a factory, with several workers each specializing in one particular task. This approach helped to make higher-quality shoes at a more rapid pace, reducing costs significantly. Previously, shoemakers passed their trade down to children or apprentices, a much less efficient process.
