syndactylous In Marsupialia, applied to the condition in which the second and third hind digits are united within a common sheath. In birds, applied to feet that have two of the front toes partly joined. The condition is found in Alcedinidae, Bucerotidae, Coraciidae, and Rupicola species (cocks-of-the-rock, see COTINGIDAE).
