Scyphostegiaceae A monotypic family (Scyphostegia borneensis), which is a small, dioecious tree in which the leaves are alternate, with inconspicuous stipules. The flowers are borne in spikes, and are unisexual, with 6 tepals, the stamens forming a column and the carpels tiny, within an urceolate structure. The fruit is a fleshy capsule. It is a curious family, perhaps related to the Flacourtiaceae, and is endemic (see ENDEMISM) to Borneo.
