Santalaceae A family of herbs, shrubs, and trees that are semi-parasitic on roots and stems. The flowers are small and inconspicuous, bisexual or unisexual, with 3–6 fused tepals, the stamens adnate to the perianth, and the ovary is inferior or half-inferior. There are 36 genera, with about 500 species, occurring in tropical and temperate regions.
