Pegasidae (dragonfish, sea moth; subclass Actinopterygii, order Pegasiformes) A small family of marine fish that have oddly shaped bodies encased by a bony armour, large, wing-like, pectoral fins, and a produced snout. Pegasus volitans, growing to 15 cm, is a typical member of the family and is widely distributed in warmer waters of the Indo-Pacific region. There are about five species.
