mudflow
1. A heavily loaded ephemeral stream whose viscosity increases with evaporation as it flows over a desert fan.

2. A rapidly moving variety of earthflow. This is a typical phenomenon of areas underlain by sensitive clays, which may liquefy and flow following a shock, perhaps initiated by sliding.

3. See lahar.
