Koompassia(family Leguminosae subfamily Caesalpinoideae) A genus of giant trees in which the leaves are pinnate. The flowers are tiny, regular, and pentamerous. The pod is flat, tardily dehiscent, and contains 1 seed surrounded by a papery wing. There are 3 species, occurring in lowland rain forests, but with a disjunct range, 2 species being found in western Malesia and 1 in New Guinea.
