Kimberella quadrata A fossil of Precambrian age, known from Australia and the coast of the White Sea, Russia, that is believed to have been a bilaterally symmetrical metazoan, possibly resembling a mollusc. It confirms that triploblastic metazoans began to diversify in the Precambrian.
