Hygrocybe (family Hygrophoraceae) A genus of fungi in which the mushroom-like fruit bodies are small, brightly coloured (red, yellow, or green) or white, and have slimy or greasy caps and waxy gills; in some species the fruit body blackens with age. There are numerous species, found in grassland.
