Helostomatidae (kissing gourami; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A monospecific family (Helostoma temminckii) comprising a fish that is very popular with aquarium hobbyists because individuals often contact one another with their thick lips. They are relatively short but deep-bodied fish, with long dorsal and anal fins, and may reach a length of at least 25 cm. They occur in south-east Asia.
