endophallus The inner wall of the aedeagus of an insect, derived embryologically by the fusion of paired genital papillae to form a medial tube. The endophallus is flexible and eversible, is the true intromittent organ, and may be armed with backward-directed teeth or spines which gain purchase on the vaginal walls of the female.
