Brunhes
Brunhes The final normal polarity chron in the Quaternary, preceded by the Matuyama, and radiometrically dated from 0.78 Ma to the present. The Brunhes chron contains several brief reversed polarity subchrons of which the Blake (c.110 000 years BP), Lake Mungo (c.30 000 years BP), Laschamp (c.18 000 years BP), and Gothernburg (c.13 000 years BP) are the best, but still poorly, established.
Brunhes
Brunhes A palaeomagnetic chron, characterized by normal magnetization (i.e. the geomagnetic North and South Poles are in the northern and southern hemispheres respectively), in which we are living at present. It began about 730 000 years ago. During the Brunhes there have been four reversed polarity excursions: Blake (110000bp); Lake Mungo (30000bp); Laschamp (20000–8730bp); and Gothenburg (13750–12350bp).
