Tʾiao-chʾi
Tʾiao-chʾi (Chin., ‘harmonizing the breaths’). A Taoist exercise in breathing. It is a preliminary to other exercises, e.g. fu-chʾi, hsing-chʾi, lien-chʾi, tʾai-hsi, yen-chʾi. It consists in assuming the lotus position (padmāsana), and breathing deeply, expelling contamination and calming the mind. See also CHʾI.
