Tachikawa-ryū. A sect derived from Shingon, accused by its opponents of antinomian and immoral practices. It was founded (according to most accounts) by Ninkan in the 12th cent. While he was in exile during the civil wars of the Hōgen era, he both taught and studied with an adept (from Tachikawa) in the Yin-yang school, and from this a kind of Tantric system was developed, in which sexual union realized the unity of all appearance.
